What happens during the consultation visit?
During your first consultation visit, we will discuss your desires, expectations, and any questions you have regarding the surgery. You will receive comprehensive information about the procedure’s process, how the surgery will enhance the appearance of your breasts, the cost of the procedure, and when it is possible to schedule the surgery.
During the consultation, you will also be asked to fill out a questionnaire regarding your current health status, any previous illnesses, surgeries you have undergone, and other medical procedures.
During the consultation visit, you will learn a lot about the procedure process and how to prepare for the surgery and anesthesia.
Your first consultation visit is free of charge and does not obligate you in any way. If you decide to undergo breast surgery at Cityklinikka, we can schedule your surgery during your consultation visit. For some patients, we recommend a mammogram examination, especially if the patient is over 40 years old or has had cancer.
It’s good to prepare for the surgery in advance. Take good care of yourself and learn as much as possible about the procedure and recovery process. We are happy to assist you with any questions you may have.
What happens on the day of the surgery?
On the day of the surgery, you will meet with plastic surgeon Riikka Veltheim. Initially, she will photograph the surgical area. You will also discuss with your anesthesiologist and be provided with a room at the clinic, which will be at your disposal throughout the day of the surgery. At this stage, you will usually also try on support bras, which will be worn after the procedure. These bras provide support to the breasts and the tissues around the surgical area during the following weeks.
Breast lift surgery typically lasts from one to two hours and is performed under anesthesia.
In breast surgeries, different types of incisions are made in the breasts. A surgical incision around the nipples is made in all breast surgeries. Most often, another incision is made below the nipples. This incision is a T-shaped anchor incision that extends to the breast crease. The incisions are usually closed with dissolvable stitches that gradually dissolve after the surgery.
How does the recovery process progress?
After the surgery, some degree of pain, swelling, and minor sensory disturbances are common. Pain, swelling, and sensory disturbances usually diminish within a few weeks after the procedure. Bruising, tingling, and swelling can be relieved with Arnizen™ ointment.
To prevent and treat swelling, we recommend lymphatic therapy.
About a week after the surgery, it’s time for your first follow-up appointment, and any removable stitches will be removed two weeks after the surgery.
The final result of the lift surgery can be seen no earlier than six months after the procedure, but you will already notice a clear improvement in your appearance after a couple of weeks. You can return to work one week after the sick leave. You can resume physical activities 3-6 weeks after the surgery. Before starting normal physical activities, it is recommended to take gentle walks, which promote healing.
The surgical scar should not be stretched during the first few months. It’s also important to protect the scar from the sun’s rays, especially for the first six months. The recovery process is always individual. Therefore, it is extremely important to listen to your body’s messages and adjust your life accordingly. It’s also important to understand that the outcome of the surgery is different for everyone. Genetics and your own skin type greatly affect how your breasts look after the surgery. It’s important to have realistic expectations. It’s advisable to discuss expectations and desires during the first consultation.
Are there risks associated with the surgery?
Breast lift surgery is a surgical procedure. All surgeries involve risks. When the surgery is performed at a Finnish clinic and the operating physician is skilled, the risks are significantly reduced. In Finland, surgical patients are covered by patient injury legislation. Therefore, there is no need to fear the surgery.
The risks associated with the surgery include:
- Infection
- General risks associated with anesthesia
- Excessive scarring
- Breast asymmetry
The surgical team at City Clinic remains with the patient even after the surgery. We are proficient in managing situations such as infections. Before the surgery, the patient weighs the risks against the benefits of the surgery. If the patient feels that the aforementioned risks outweigh the benefits of the surgery, it is not advisable to proceed with the surgery.

Asiakkaistani 80 prosenttia on aivan tavallisia naisia. Usein potilas on 2 – 3 lapsen äiti, joka haluaa korjata imetyksen jäljiltä muotonsa menettäneet rinnat tai raskauden vuoksi erkaantuneet vatsalihakset.

Rintojen kohotus korjaa riippuvien rintojen ulkonäköä. Leikkausta kannattaa harkita, jos rintojen riippuminen aiheuttaa psyykkisiä tai fyysisiä hankaluuksia. Kokenut, tarkan esteettisen silmän omaava, ammattitaitoinen plastiikkakirurgi osaa palauttaa rintoihin niiden nuorekkaan ulkonäön. Kohotusleikkauksiin yhdistetään usein muita rintaleikkauksia, esimerkiksi rintojen suurennus- tai pienennysleikkaus. Toimenpiteitä yhdistämällä saadaan ihanteellisia lopputuloksia. Eri vaihtoehtoja käydään läpi jo ensimmäisen konsultaatiokäynnin aikana.
Rintojen kohotus- ja pienennysleikkaukset muistuttavat melko paljon toisiaan. Pienennysleikkaukseen hakeutuvat naiset kärsivät kuitenkin yleensä enemmän selkä- ja hartiakivuista, kun taas kohotusleikkaukseen hakeutuvien ensisijainen toive on monesti enemmänkin parantaa rintojen ulkonäköä. Molempien leikkauksien tarkoituksena on kohottaa ja muotoilla rintoja. Ero on siinä, että kohotusleikkauksessa poistetaan yleensä vain ihoa ja pienennysleikkauksessa taas poistetaan myös rintarauhaskudosta.
Cityklinikalla on tehty hyvin paljon kaikentyyppisiä rintaleikkauksia, ja plastiikkakirurgillamme on pitkä kokemus rintojen suurennus-, pienennys- ja kohotusleikkauksista. Usein leikkauksia myös yhdistetään toisiinsa. Rintojen kohotusleikkaus voidaan yhdistää sekä rintojen pienennykseen että suurennukseen.
Kohotusleikkaus ei vaikuta naisen imettämiskykyyn.
Kohotusleikkaukseen voidaan yhdistää muita toimenpiteitä
Rintojen kohotusleikkauksessa korjataan ensisijaisesti rintojen muotoa. On kuitenkin hyvin yleistä, että saman leikkauksen aikana muutetaan myös rintojen kokoa.
Hyvin pienetkin rinnat saattavat riippua. Tällaisessa tilanteessa kohotusleikkauksen yhteydessä rinnat voidaan myös suurentaa. Vaihtoehtoja ovat rintaimplantit (“silikonit”), rasvansiirto tai näiden yhdistelmä.
Jos roikkuvat rinnat ovat suuret, rintojen pienentäminen voi olla mielekästä niin esteettisistä kuin terveydellisistäkin syistä.
Rintojen kohotusleikkaus - kenelle?
- fyysisesti ja psyykkisesti terveelle naiselle
- naiselle, jota rintojen muuttuneet muodot häiritsevät
- naiselle, jonka rinnat ovat aina roikkuneet
- naiselle, jonka nännit osoittavat alas
- naiselle, jonka toinen rinta on alempana kuin toinen
- imetyksen jälkeen
- painonpudotuksen jälkeen
- vaihdevuosista johtuvien ulkonäkömuutosten takia
- rekonstruktiivisen rintaleikkauksen yhteydessä naiselle, joka on toipunut rintasyövästä
Konsultaatio
Rintojen kohotusleikkaus on melko laaja kirurginen toimenpide, joka on syytä suunnitella huolellisesti. Koska jokaisen naisen rinnat ovat erilaiset, myös suunnittelun tulee edetä yksilöllisesti.
Suunnitteluprosessi alkaa usein kotioloissa, ja maksuttomaan konsultaatioon tuleva nainen saattaa olla jo hyvinkin varma leikkauspäätöksestään. Maksuttomassa konsultaatiossa esteettinen sairaanhoitaja tai lääkäri ottaa usein valokuvat rinnoista. Valokuvat voidaan ladata Crisalix-ohjelmaan, ja Crisalix näyttää leikkauksen lopputuloksen kolmiulotteisena jo kauan ennen leikkauspäivää.
Maksuttoman konsultaation jälkeen leikkauksen ja toipilasajan kulku alkavat hahmottua potilaalle itselleen. Myös toimenpiteen tai toimenpidekokonaisuuden hinta selviää. Mikäli potilas päättää tulla leikkaukseen Cityklinikalle, hänet ohjataan tässä vaiheessa usein tutkimuksiin (laboratoriotutkimukset, mammografia, ultraäänitutkimus) ja plastiikkakirurgi Riikka Veltheimin vastaanotolle.
Plastiikkakirurgi Veltheimin vastaanoton jälkeen on jäljellä enää leikkaus.
Leikkaus tehdään yleisanestesiassa
Rintojen kohotusleikkaus tehdään yleisanestesiassa eli nukutuksessa. Leikkaus kestää muutaman tunnin. Joskus potilaan kannattaa viettää myös leikkauksen jälkeinen yö klinikalla. Ennen leikkauspäivää on hyvä valmistautua kotiinpaluuseen. Autolla ei saa ajaa. Ensimmäisten vuorokausien aikana leikkauspotilas tarvitsee muutenkin apua.
Kohotusleikkauksen jälkeen leikkausarvet näkyvät nännipihan ympärillä ja lähes aina myös pystyarpena nännipihasta rinnanaluspoimua kohti. Arvet on suojattava erittäin hyvin auringolta ainakin leikkausta seuraavan vuoden ajan.
Toipuminen ja tulokset
Rintojen kohotusleikkauksen jälkeen kivut ovat yleensä varsin pieniä. Mahdollisiin kipuihin kannattaa kuitenkin varautua ostamalla kipulääkkeitä kotiin jo ennen leikkauspäivää. Yleensä kipujen hallitsemiseen riittävät ibuprofeiini- ja parasetamoli-valmisteet. Joskus käytetään myös reseptilääkkeitä. Lääkkeistä on hyvä pyrkiä eroon jo ensimmäisen toipilasviikon jälkeen.
Sairausloman tarve vaihtelee, ja sairausloman pituus riippuu sekä potilaan yleisestä terveydentilasta sekä työnkuvasta. Liikkeelle kannattaa lähteä heti, kun se on mahdollista. Rauhalliset kävelylenkit ulkoilmassa nopeuttavat toipumista, mutta raskaan liikunnan harrastamisessa on leikkauksen jälkeen pidettävä useiden viikkojen tauko.
Leikkauksen jälkeen tukiliivien käyttö on äärimmäisen tärkeää.
Leikkaustulokset alkavat näkyä selvästi kolmen kuukauden kuluttua leikkauksesta. Luotettavan arvion lopputuloksesta voi tehdä vasta vuoden päästä.
