How does HIFU treatment differ from other device treatments?
UltraLift™ HIFU stimulates the skin’s collagen regeneration, similar to radiofrequency and laser treatments. However, HIFU differs somewhat from laser and radiofrequency treatments.
High-intensity, microfocused ultrasound — HIFU — penetrates deeper into the skin compared to radiofrequency or laser light energy. Laser and radiofrequency procedures can stimulate the skin to produce new collagen and elastin. The same results can be achieved with HIFU energy, but HIFU also allows for tightening of the SMAS structure located beneath the skin.
Tightening the SMAS structure is not possible with laser or radiofrequency energy.
What is SMAS?
SMAS is an abbreviation for Submuscular Aponeurotic System. The SMAS structure is located in the cheek area, between subcutaneous fat and muscle. At its lower part, it connects to the platysma muscle of the lower face and neck.
In some surgical facelift procedures, the skin is tightened and repositioned along with the SMAS tissue. This allows for better firming of sagging in the lower face. Before the discovery of HIFU technology, SMAS tissue could not be tightened without surgery.
High-intensity ultrasound energy (HIFU) allows for moderate tightening of the SMAS structure without surgery. HIFU procedures are often referred to as non-surgical facelifts. However, it should be noted that HIFU technology does not achieve as radical results as traditional facelift surgery.
What is collagen?
Collagen is a protein found, among other places, in the dermis of the skin. Collagen makes the skin firm and tight.
The collagen content of the skin begins to decrease as early as the age of 25. The decline in both the quality and quantity of collagen accelerates after the age of 40. Therefore, the skin of a middle-aged person is looser and more wrinkled than before.
Medical device treatments can increase the amount of collagen to some extent and improve its quality. Collagen production can be enhanced using methods such as laser light or radiofrequency energy. Additionally, UltraLift™ HIFU improves the quality of existing collagen and stimulates the skin to produce entirely new collagen.
How do you prepare for an HIFU procedure?
- Come to the UltraLift™ treatment without wearing makeup.
- If you wish, you can also remove your makeup at Cityklinikka. In that case, ask the reception staff for a cleanser.
- Leave all jewelry at home; also remove piercings.
- It is recommended to start taking collagen supplements before the procedure.
Does the HIFU treatment hurt?
UltraLift™ treatment may be completely painless. Some may feel tingling on the skin during the procedure. Treatment on the lower face may cause a sensation of toothache.
It is recommended to take a painkiller 30–60 minutes before the start of the procedure.
Post-treatment discomfort can also be relieved with over-the-counter pain relievers.

UltraLift™ HIFU sopii yli 30-vuotiaille
UltraLift™ sopii naisille ja miehille, joiden iho on löystynyt ja veltostunut. Yleensä veltostuminen näkyy ensimmäisenä otsan ja silmänympärysihon ikääntymismuutoksina: kulmat ja yläluomet laskeutuvat.
Poskien alueen muutokset aiheuttavat nasolabiaalipoimuja, suupielien veltostumista ja ihon pussittamista leukalinjassa. Kasvojen nuorekas V-linja muuttuu kulmikkaaksi.

Ultraääni, laser ja radiofrekvenssi
Ultraäänen käyttö kasvojenkohotuksessa on esteettisen lääketieteen uusin innovaatio, looginen jatkumo laser- ja radiofrekvenssitoimenpiteille.
UltraLift™ HIFU -hoidossa kohdistetaan erittäin tehokasta, mikrofokusoitua ultraääntä samoihin kudoksiin, joita käsitellään myös kirurgisissa kasvojenkohotuksissa. Siksi se onkin varteenotettava vaihtoehto potilaille, jotka harkitsevat faceliftia mutteivat ole valmiita viikkoja kestävään toipumisaikaan. (HIFU – High Intense Focused Ultrasound)
Ultraäänellä ihoa voidaan käsitellä huomattavasti tehokkaammin ja syvemmältä kuin esim. laser- tai radiofrekvenssienergialla. Korkeatehoinen ultraääni ulottuu ihon syvimpien kerrosten lisäksi aina ihonalaiseen SMAS-kudokseen saakka. Ultraäänellä on mahdollista kiristää SMAS-kudosta jopa lähes yhtä paljon kuin kasvojen kohotusleikkauksessa. Tämän vuoksi UltraLift™ on saanut nimen veitsetön kasvojenkohotus.

HIFU-toimenpiteen edut
1. Syvyys
- Korkeatehoinen ultraääni ulottuu huomattavasti syvemmälle kuin laser tai radiofrekvenssi.
- Vaikka toimenpide kohdistetaan ihon syvimpiin kerroksiin, se ei vahingoita ihon pintaa.
- Toimenpiteessä lämpöenergia kohdennetaan kontrolloidusti halutulle alueelle.
- Toimenpide ulottuu yhtä syvälle kuin kirurginen kasvojenkohotus. Korkeatehoista ultraäänihoitoa kutsutaan ympäri maailmaa nimellä veitsetön kasvojenkohotus.
2. Lämpötila
- UltraLift™-toimenpiteessä kudoksiin kohdistuu jatkuva 60-70 asteen lämpötila.
- Tasaisessa 60-70 asteen lämpötilassa ihon kollageenisäikeet kiristyvät ja ihossa syntyy runsaasti uutta kollageenia.
3. Tarkkuus
- Haluttu lämpö kohdennetaan kontrolloidusti kollageenin uusiomuodostuksen kannalta optimaaliseen syvyyteen.
- Käsiteltyjen alueiden väliin jää aina käsittelemätöntä kudosta, joka nopeuttaa paranemisprosessia.
4. Vähän kipua
- Kivuntuntemukset riippuvat käsiteltävästä alueesta sekä potilaasta.
- Yleensä potilas tuntee ihollaan kihelmöintiä ja lämpöä toimenpiteen aikana.
- Joidenkin potilaiden hampaissa tuntuu vihlontaa hoidon aikana.
- Kipuja voidaan lievittää särkylääkkeillä.
5. Nopea toimenpide
- Koko kasvojen käsittely kestää yleensä 60–90 minuuttia.
6. Useimmiten yksi hoito riittää
- Jos ylimääräistä ihokudosta on paljon tai iho on erittäin paksu (esim. miehillä), hoito voidaan joutua tekemään kaksi kertaa kolmen kuukauden välein.
7. Asteittain paranevat tulokset
- Osa tuloksista näkyy välittömästi toimenpiteen jälkeen, koska UltraLift™ kiristää ihon alla olevaa SMAS-kerrosta.
- Lopullinen tulos alkaa näkyä 2–6 kuukauden kuluttua, kun dermiksessä alkaa muodostua uutta kollageenia.
8. Pitkäkestoiset tulokset
- Yleensä tulokset säilyvät hyvinä noin kolme vuotta.
- Mikään toimenpide ei kuitenkaan estä ihon ikääntymistä jatkossa. Usein UltraLift™-hoito uusitaankin kahden tai kolmen vuoden kuluttua ensimmäisestä hoidosta.
9. Sairauslomaa ei tarvita
- Ihotuntemukset ovat yleisiä ensimmäisen kahden vuorokauden aikana.
- Joskus iho saattaa punoittaa ja olla hieman turvoksissa toimenpiteen jälkeen.
- Meikkiä voi käyttää heti toimenpiteen loputtua.
Perustietoa Fractora™-hoidosta
Fractora-hoidossa radiotaajuusenergiaa käytetään ihon kiinteyttämiseen, juonteiden poistamiseen ja aknearpien tasoittamiseen. Koska kysymyksessä on fraktionaalinen toimenpide, toipuminen on nopeaa. Fraktionaalisessa toimenpiteessä käsiteltyjen alueiden väliin jää käsittelemätöntä kudosta. Käsitellyt alueet herättävät ihoa tuottamaan uutta kollageenia, ja käsittelemättömät alueet nopeuttavat toipumisprosessia.
Fractora-hoidossa radiotaajuusenergia kulkee pienten neulojen kautta ihon sisään. Ihoon viety lämpö tasoittaa ja kiinteyttää ihoa tehokkaasti. Lisäksi toimenpide stimuloi ihoa tuottamaan uutta kollageenia ja elastiinia. Nämä ovat proteiineja, jotka tekevät ihosta kimmoisan, napakan ja kiinteän. Ikääntymisen myötä kollageeni ja elastiini vähenevät ihosta. Kun iho alkaa Fractora-hoidon myötä tuottaa näitä uudelleen, ihon kunto ja ulkonäkö paranevat sisältäpäin.
Hoidon tehoa voidaan säädellä potilaan ihon kunnon mukaan. Mitä suurempia energia-annoksia käytetään, sitä tehokkaampi hoito on. Toisaalta hoito voidaan tehdä myös matalilla energia-annoksilla esimerkiksi kolmen kerran sarjahoitona.
Hoitoa tehtäessä käytetään puudutusvoidetta. Jos hoito tehdään korkeilla tehoilla, se voidaan tehdä paikallispuudutuksessa.
Tule hoitoon ilman meikkiä, koruja ja lävistyksiä. Meikin voi tarvittaessa poistaa myös klinikalla. Tällöin voit pyytää puhdistusainetta aulan henkilökunnalta.
Kaikenlaisten ryppyjen, laajentuneiden ihohuokosten, aknearpien, pienten pinnallisten verisuonten ja maksaläiskien hoitamiseen tarvitaan 1–5 hoitokertaa.
Näkyviä tuloksia saadaan välittömästi ensimmäisen toimenpiteen jälkeen. Jo muutama päivä hoidon jälkeen iho tuntuu paljon kiinteämmältä. Lopullinen tulos saavutetaan 3–4 kuukaudessa, kun ihoon on muodostunut uutta kollageenia ja elastiinia. Lue lisää lääkärimme blogista.
