Vartalon muokkaus onnistuu kehon omalla rasvalla. Vartalon omaa rasvaa voidaan siirtää paikasta toiseen melko yksinkertaisella ja nopealla toimenpiteellä. Olipa kysymyksessä sitten rintojen suurennus, Brazilian Butt Lift tai peniksen paksuntaminen, rasvansiirto saattaa olla vaihtoehdoista relevantein ja tehokkain.
Rasvansiirron käyttöalueet laajenevat koko ajan. Rasvaa pystytään siirtämään yhä pienemmillä kanyyleilla, joskus jopa injektioneuloilla. Tämän vuoksi toimenpide on aiempaa kivuttomampi. Myös toipuminen on entistä nopeampaa ja helpompaa. Tekniikoiden kehityttyä yleisanestesian eli nukutuksen käyttö on vähentynyt. Usein vartalon muokkaus rasvansiirrolla voidaan tehdä paikallispuudutuksessa.
Rasvansiirto on käsitteenä laaja. Termi rasvansiirto kertoo vain sen, että rasvaa on otettu yhdestä paikasta ja laitettu toiseen. Itse tekniikasta tai toimenpiteen nykyaikaisuudesta termi ei kerro vielä mitään.
Monilla potilailla on kokemuksia aiemmista rasvansiirroista. Viimeisimpien vuosien aikana tekniikka on kuitenkin kehittynyt nopeasti, ja toimenpiteen voi nykyisin suorittaa monella tavalla. Kun toimenpiteen tekevä lääkäri osaa valita oikean tekniikan, myös lopputulos on halutunlainen.
Vartalon muokkaus tehdään lähes aina suurikokoisella rasvakudoksella, jota kutsutaan makrorasvaksi. Makrorasva sopii niin rintojen kuin pakaroidenkin muokkaamiseen.
Nykyisillä rasvankeräystekniikoilla siirrettävä rasva saadaan pysymään siirtokohteessa pidempään kuin perinteisiä tekniikoita käytettäessä. Anestesia
Rasvansiirto voidaan yhä useammin tehdä paikallispuudutuksessa. Jos vartalon muokkaus vaatii laajaa rasvansiirtoa, toimenpide voi olla hyvä tehdä nukutuksessa.
Rasvan imeminen
Rasvanottoalue voi olla melkein mikä tahansa paikka, jossa potilaalla on ei-toivottua rasvaa. Rasvanottoalue puudutetaan huolellisesti erittäin ohuella kanyylillä pienen ihoaukon kautta. Alueen puutuessa siirtokohteet merkitään. Samalla päätetään minkä kokoista ja kuinka paljon rasvasiirrännäistä tarvitaan. Rastaa voidaan imeä monestakin eri paikasta. Yleisiä rasvanottoalueita ovat vatsa, kyljet ja reidet.
Rasvansiirtoa tehtäessä rasvaa otetaan vain sen verran kuin siirtoon tarvitaan. Jos potilas toivoo perusteellista rasvanpoistoa, asiasta täytyy neuvotella hoitavan lääkärin kanssa ennen toimenpidettä. Perusteellinen rasvanpoisto on laajempi toimenpide verrattuna rasvan imemiseen ennen siirtoa.
Rasvan käsittely
Kun rasva on otettu, se puhdistetaan ja käsitellään. Käsittelyn avulla siirrännäisestä saadaan juuri sopiva. Tämän jälkeen käsitelty rasva siirretään pieniin ruiskuihin ja siirretään haluttuun paikkaan ohutta kanyylia käyttäen. (Kanyyli on tylppäkärkinen neula.)
Toimenpiteen jälkeen
Toimenpide on nopea. Ensimmäisen tuloksen näkee jo heti toimenpiteen jälkeen.
Osa siirretystä rasvasta poistuu toimenpidettä seuraavien viikkojen kuluessa. Tämän vuoksi rasvaa siirretään aina hieman enemmän kuin lopullinen tulos vaatii. Pienen ylitäytön ansiosta vältytään uudelta siirrolta lähiaikoina ja saadaan hyvä esteettinen lopputulos.
Sairauslomaa ei aina tarvita. Sairausloman tarve riippuu yksilöllisistä tekijöistä sekärasvansiirtoalueesta. Esimerkiksi pakaroiden rasvansiirron jälkeen työssäkäyminen voi olla hankalaa.
