After fat transfer

  • You can shower the day after the procedure. Getting the wounds wet is not a problem. Pat the tapes very gently dry with a clean towel.
  • Areas where fat has been taken may ooze bloody tissue fluid for a few days. You can gently press out the fluid very cautiously.
  • After the procedure, the skin tapes placed on the treated area can be removed at home 2–4 days later, gently during showering or washing the face. The area should be rinsed with lukewarm water. Arnizen cream should be applied to the treated area several times a day during the first few weeks.
  • Felt-tip marks on the face can be lightened by gently patting the skin with Arnizen cream. However, avoid getting the cream onto the tapes.
  • Avoid all facial movements — including laughing, smiling, and chewing — during the first week. Do not rub or move the skin. Movement can cause destruction of the transferred fat.
  • Arnizen™ Cream Gel can be used for bruise treatment.
  • We recommend lymphatic therapy to be started before the surgery due to swelling and continued according to the doctor’s instructions afterward.
  • Do not expose the fat transfer area to pressure or cold. Pressure and cold can cause destruction of the transferred fat.
  • Sleep on your back for the first month to avoid pressure on the facial area. Protect your face from cold when outdoors during the first month.
  • Eat well during the first month. Carbohydrate-rich nutrition helps the transferred fat to adhere.
  • There may be a feeling of tightness on the face initially. Swelling and bruising disappear in 2–6 weeks. Sauna visits are recommended only after swelling and bruising have disappeared, usually 3–4 weeks later.
  • Cold packs and regular painkillers available from the pharmacy can be used for relief.
  • Using sunscreen is important for at least two months.
  • You can start using concealer the day after the procedure.

Follow-up appointment is scheduled for 3–6 months later.

Contact the clinic if:

  • there is unexpected pain in the fat transfer area
  • the wounds continue to bleed
  • the fat transfer area or the extraction site swells or becomes infected
  • fever above 38 degrees Celsius lasts for more than a day
