A Brazilian Butt Lift involves enlarging the buttocks using the body’s own fat. The procedure begins with liposuction. Swelling usually decreases within 6–8 weeks, and the final result can be assessed 2–6 months after the fat transfer.

Often, BBL can be done under local anesthesia, which eliminates the risks associated with general anesthesia (sleep anesthesia).
