After Filler Treatment
Filler treatments are safe procedures when performed by a professional using proven and safe fillers. After the treatment, the treated area may experience the following temporary side effects:
- mild redness
- bruising
- swelling
- tenderness
- itchiness
- tingling sensation
All of these are common post-injection reactions. They are temporary and usually disappear within a few days. If symptoms persist or other symptoms occur, contact the provider who performed the filler treatment.
Initial swelling of the lips may last longer than swelling in other areas. Sometimes, some degree of swelling may persist for up to a week. In this case, the lips may appear slightly asymmetrical. The result immediately after the treatment and in the days following is not final. The final result can be evaluated two weeks after the filler treatment.
Avoid touching the treated area for the first six hours. After that, you can gently wash the area with water and cleansing products. Light makeup can be applied to the treatment area immediately after the procedure. Do not use organic cosmetics in the first few days.
Do not expose the treated area to heat (sunbeds, sauna, direct sunlight) or excessive cold until the swelling and redness have disappeared. It is also advisable to avoid heavy physical activities during the first few days. Physical activity slightly accelerates the breakdown of the filler.
If you have had cold sores in the past, needle punctures may trigger a recurrence.
Medications containing acetylsalicylic acid (e.g., aspirin) and some herbal products may increase the likelihood of bruising or bleeding at the injection site.
