After buffaloplasty

  • Control pain and swelling with ibuprofen (e.g., Burana). Take 600 mg immediately after arriving home, and then every six hours.
  • If your doctor prescribes antibiotics for you, finish the course as directed.
  • Aspirin-containing pain relievers may increase bleeding and bruising. Do not use them.
  • Immediately after the procedure, it is good to be upright as much as possible. Gentle walks promote recovery.
  • Elevate the head of the bed, for example with pillows, during the first three nights. Try to sleep on your back.
  • Using cold packs reduces swelling, bruising, and pain. Wrap the cold pack, for example, in a hand towel so you don’t freeze your skin.
  • Keep the pack on the procedure area for 30–45 minutes at least four times during the first 24 hours.
  • You can also treat pain and swelling later with warm packs, but for a maximum of 20 minutes at a time. Take at least a 12-hour break between cold and warm packs. Do not use warm packs during the first 36 hours. Be careful not to burn your skin!
  • Avoid physical exertion for the first two weeks.
  • Avoid sports with a risk of injury for two months.
  • It is good to treat swelling with lymphatic therapy. We recommend lymphatic therapy before and after the procedure, according to the doctor’s instructions.
  • For bruise treatment, we recommend Arnizen Cream Gel bruise gel.
  • Protect your skin from UV rays more than usual for the first few months.
  • Try to avoid applying makeup to the procedure area during the first week.
  • Do not blow dry your hair for the first few days.
  • Choose your food according to your pain level. On the first day, it is good to eat only liquid foods. During the first three days, it is good to avoid hard foods.
  • Avoid extreme facial positions (facial expressions, laughter) during the first few days.
  • If you have any questions about aftercare or any other matter, call 0201 777 288.
  • In case of emergencies (sudden fever over 38 degrees, severe bleeding, or sudden, severe swelling), you can call the doctor’s emergency number, 0400 955 350.
